Anna Morgowicz Debuts PUBLIC POOLS at Citygroup with Karolina Czeczek of Only If
We’re excited to announce the opening of PUBLIC POOLS, featuring new photography and visual research by Anna Morgowicz and Karolina Czeczek , this Thursday, July 31, from 6–8pm at Citygroup (104b Forsyth Street, New York).
Morgowicz’s work brings a sharp and lyrical eye to the public swimming pool as both a subject of documentary study and a site of civic imagination. Her photographs ground the exhibition in lived experience, surfacing layered histories and atmospheres within New York City’s poolscapes.
Presented in collaboration with architect and researcher Karolina Czeczek / Only If, PUBLIC POOLS explores the history, architecture, and cultural significance of NYC’s public pools. Together, the project asks urgent questions about access, equity, climate resilience, and the role of water in the urban public realm.

The exhibition is supported by an Independent Project Grant from The Architectural League of New York, with additional support from New York State Council on the Arts and Citygroup. Research was made possible through archival access to NYC Parks, the Museum of the City of New York, and the NYC Department of Buildings.
