Serhii Chrucky is a commercial and editorial photographer known for being a sharp, perceptive interpreter of modern and contemporary architecture. He works collaboratively with design firms, producing images that are used to win awards and generate new business. Combining artistic vision with technical precision, he is adept at identifying distinctive features of a project in order to convey the spirit of place.
Serhii is a member of the Professional Photographers of America, and is an allied member of the American Institute of Architects. His work has been published in National Geographic, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Dwell, Artforum, The Architectural Review, and Landscape Architecture Magazine, among others.
He holds an MFA in Visual Art from the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis, and a BFA in Photography from the UIC School of Design in Chicago. He has lectured on photographic topics and techniques at institutions including the University of Missouri–St. Louis, the University of St. Francis, Maryville University, and Craft Alliance.
His contributions to preservation initiatives include work with Preservation Chicago's successful effort to save the James R. Thompson Center, as well as involvement with Docomomo, the Chicago Art Deco Society, and the Society for Industrial Archaeology.
