Ben Stechschulte is a cinematographer, filmmaker, and photographer based in New York City and the Adirondack Mountains. With nearly three decades of experience, his work spans documentary film, photo stories, and multimedia installations exploring community, landscape, and the creative process. He has collaborated with The New York Times Magazine, PBS, and NGOs, combining strong visual storytelling with a documentary sensibility. Stechschulte creates films and photo projects that highlight the interdependence between people and place—particularly in the rural communities of upstate New York. His long-term collaborations include projects with composer and performer Meredith Monk, producing video installations and set pieces featured at the Park Avenue Armory and Holland Festival.
